Former Ferrari boss Sergio Marchionne has died aged 66.

Tragic news just reaching us that Sergio Marchionne has died aged 66.

Marchionne was in Zurich hospital following complications resulting from his shoulder surgery.

Marchionne stepped down as Ferrari boss four days ago due to health concerns and today the news has broken that he is no longer with us.

The former Ferrari and Fiat boss led the former for more than a decade and orignally planned to step down next year, but health concerns led to an early retirement for the Italian.

"Unfortunately, what we feared has come to pass. Sergio Marchionne, man and friend, is gone," said group chairman John Elkann, a member of the Agnelli family that controls the company.

Elkann praised Marchionne's "values of humanity, responsibility and open-mindedness".

"My family and I will always be grateful for what he has done," he added.[/i]

Od kada je stupio na čelo Fiata, tržišna vrijednost te kompanije porasla je za više od 11 puta, pri čemu je kao posebne tvrtke unutar grupe izdvojio proizvođača kamiona i traktora CNH Industrial i sportskih automobila Ferrarija. “Možete reći da Sergio ima loš temperament, da je loš otac, jer nikad ne provodi vrijeme sa svojom djecom, ali nikad ne možete dovoditi u pitanje njegovo vodstvo kao menadžera. On je učinio čuda u Fiatu “, rekao je Reutersu jedan menadžer koji je radio s njim.

Pa sa 66 godina teško da je imao maloljetnu djecu. Šta će tipa od 30 godina za ruku okolo vodit?

To treba pitati Allesia i Tylera, nije zivio sa njima odnosno sa ex zenom. Imao je koku koja je radila u marketingu Fiata.
S obzirom na karijeru tesko da je imao vremena provesti kvalitetno vrijeme sa svojom djecom, ali reci da mu je karijera bila ispred djece nije u redu, to zna(o) samo on i njegova djeca...

Nakon 10g opet se zaletio do hungaroringa...kriminalno vruće...hibridi se čuju slabo...upola doživljaj nego prije...karta pojeftinila na 80 ojra...put solidan...malo su promijenili ulaz s autoputa...izlaz još nisu završili...valjda bude slijedeće godine...ponuda majica kapa i ostalog jaka za merc ferrari i redbull...htio kupiti nešto od subera...imali samo majica kapuljača....160ojra...kako da ne...

Mislim da je sto se Kimija tice, sveca, sve samo ne dogorela, vozi najbolje od kada se vratio u Ferrari, pet uzastopnih podijuma, to mu se nije desilo od 2003.

Daniel Ricciardo will make a sensational move from Red Bull to Renault for the 2019 season, it is reported by the Daily Mail. According to the report, Ricciardo has grown frustrated with Red Bull favouring his team-mate Max Verstappen and will instead switch to the French team.

The move is likely to further open up the bitter divide between Red Bull and Renault, which has festered in recent years over the French marque's inability to match Mercedes and Ferrari in the power stakes.

Red Bull have taken the plunge and signed a deal with Honda for the 2019 season - a factor which could also play a role if Ricciardo does decide to leave.

According to the Mail, Ricciardo met with Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz at the Austrian Grand Prix, but was not assured that he would be on an equal footing with Verstappen.

The Dutchman has previously revealed that he is seen as the "title project" inside Red Bull, with motorsport advisor Dr Helmut Marko placing him on a similar footing that Sebastian Vettel enjoyed in the team.

Vettel was generally favoured over Australian team-mate Mark Webber, who railed against his 'number-two driver' status. Ricciardo, it seems, is keen to avoid falling into a similar situation to his compatriot.

If Ricciardo does depart, it could provide Carlos Sainz Jr with the chance to step up to the senior Red Bull team and link up once again with his former Toro Rosso colleague Verstappen.

However, McLaren are thought to also be in the market for the Spaniard, having seen a move for Ricciardo earlier this year rebuffed.

Ricciardo had started the year discussing potential moves to Mercedes and Ferrari with his Red Bull deal winding down, however interest from F1's top two teams failed to materialise.

Ferrari are reportedly set to offer Kimi Raikkonen another one-year deal after cooling on a move for Charles Leclerc, while Mercedes have confirmed Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton as their 2019 line-up.

The Force India team has been saved by a consortium led by billionaire Lawrence Stroll, the father of F1 driver Lance.

Force India’s future was thrown into doubt last month when the team was placed into administration due to debts owed.

The team’s financial troubles have been widely reported over the past few years with several parties linked to a buy-out, however, that never came to fruition.

That, though, finally took place on Tuesday evening.

The consortium, led by Stroll and supported by Force India’s ‘senior management’, agreed a deal with the joint administrators, appointed by FRP Advisory.

The deal has saved the 405 jobs in the F1 team and will ensure that all the team’s creditors are paid in full, with ‘ongoing funding guaranteed’.

“This outcome secures the future of the Force India team in Formula 1 and will allow our team of racers to compete to our full potential,” said Force India operations chief Otmar Szafnauer.

“I am delighted that we have the support of a consortium of investors who believe in us as a team and who see the considerable business potential that Force India has within F1 now and in the future.

“At Force India, our expertise and commitment has meant that we have always punched above our weight and this new investment ensures that we have a bright future ahead of us.

“I also would like to thank Vijay, the Sahara Group and the Mol family for all of their support and taking the team as far as their circumstances would allow.”

Administrator Geoff Rowley added: “All creditors will be paid in full, all jobs will be preserved, and the team will have significant funding to invest in its future.

“Funding to support the team will be made available from today, and significantly more will be available once the company emerges from administration, which we expect within the next two to three weeks.”

Stroll’s fellow investors are Canadian entrepreneur Andre Desmarais, Jonathan Dudman of Monaco Sports and Management, fashion business leader John Idol, telecommunications investor John McCaw Jr, financial expert Michael de Picciotto, and Stroll’s business partner Silas Chou.

The next step in the deal is to finalise the finer points including the final agreement to buy the team.

BREAKING: Alonso to step away from F1 at end of 2018



He’s raced in Formula 1 for 17 years – but Fernando Alonso has confirmed that he won’t be on the F1 grid in 2019...

In a statement issued on Tuesday, McLaren announced that the double world champion will not race for them next year – though the 37-year-old did hint that he may return to the squad in the future.

“After 17 wonderful years in this amazing sport, it’s time for me to make a change and move on,” said Alonso, who made his debut in 2001 and has been on the grid every year since 2003. “I have enjoyed every single minute of those incredible seasons and I cannot thank enough the people who have contributed to make them all so special.

“There are still several Grands Prix to go this season, and I will take part in them with more commitment and passion than ever.

“Let’s see what the future brings; new exciting challenges are around the corner. I’m having one of the happiest times ever in my life but I need to go on exploring new adventures.

“I want to thank everyone at McLaren. My heart is with the team forever. I know they will come back stronger and better in the future and it could be the right moment for me to be back in the series; that would make me really happy.”


Speaking about Alonso’s decision, Zak Brown, McLaren Racing’s Chief Executive Officer,  commented: “Fernando is not only an outstanding ambassador for McLaren but also for Formula 1. His 17 years in the sport, as arguably the pre-eminent driver of his generation and undoubtedly an F1 great, have added another layer to Formula 1’s rich history.

“There is a time for everyone to make a change and Fernando has decided the end of this season to be his. We respect his decision, even if we believe he is in the finest form of his career. Our open dialogue with Fernando has meant we could plan for this eventuality.

“While evaluating his future during the past months, Fernando’s competitiveness has been undimmed. He has continued to perform at the highest level throughout, as we know he will do in the remaining nine races of this year’s championship.

“I know that the entire team joins me in paying tribute to Fernando’s enormous contribution to McLaren; he is a legend both for the championship and for the team. Fernando is an important part of our story and will join an illustrious line of McLaren drivers. On behalf of Shaikh Mohammed, Mansour and our entire board, we wish Fernando every success in the future.”

During his remarkable F1 career, Alonso has amassed 32 wins, 22 pole positions and 97 podiums to date, while his 302 Grand Prix starts place him fourth on the all-time list. Beyond his two titles – achieved in 2005 and 2006 – the Spaniard has been championship runner-up three times.

Logicno, vec par godina se pokusava vratit u top momcad pa sad kad je ocito da od toga nema nista bolje mu se povuc nego nastavit ovo mrcvarenje. Po meni steta jer tako mala mrvica je nedostajala da osvoji jos dva naslova sa ferkanima, s ta dva naslova najvjerojatnije nebi minja momcad a mislim da on nebi lani i ove godine usra sve sta se usrat moglo ......

Steta. Falit ce mi. Mada bilo je ocekivano. Lani kao da je sam sebe pokusavao uvjeriti brojnim izjavama "best chassis on the grid" da je problem samo u hondi, ove godine je vec rano stiglo bolno otrijeznjenje.

 Nazalost ne sjecam se ijednog top vozaca koji je svojim usranim karakterom uspio zatvoriti toliko vrata. Bilo je i top iznenađenje što ga je i Mclaren uzeo (natrag). Sretno mu bilo u ostatku karijere.

Ode najbolji vozač na gridu. Ali vjerojatno si je sam kriv. Ne vjerojatno, gotovo sigurno! Toliko krivih poteza, totalni antipod Hamiltonu koji je toliko dobro birao momčadi koliko je Fernando bio loš u tome.

Fernando Alonso says his decision to quit Formula One at the end of the current season has nothing to do with McLaren's failure to give him a competitive car since 2015.

"I stopped because the action on-track in my opinion I feel is very poor. In fact, what we talk about more in Formula 1 is off-track. We talk about polemics, we talk about radio messages, we talk about all these things.

"When we talk so many times about these things, it's a bad sign. It's because the on-track action was very poor that weekend. That's what I feel in Formula One now, and I think there are other series that maybe offer better action, more joy, and I think more happiness."

Bome falit ce mi Alonsito i njegovi proseri. Evo iz povjerljivih izvora cujem da se iz istih razloga i Vettel i Hamilton namjeravaju oprostiti od Formule 1 na kraju sezone!
