Još malo sa predstavljanja o samome MiTU:

Fiat Group engineering chief Harald Wester featured in an incisive film that delved into the technical merits of MiTo. "The sportiest compact car ever," stated Wester, pointing out its sporty credentials in some detail and highlighting the agile and direct steering, excellent power-to-weight ratio (more than a third better than the class average), the innovative new damper rebound springs, and the c-section rear torsion bar. On top of this-said Wester-came impressive features including Electronic Q2, Dynamic Steering Torque and the DNA system. He also added that MiTo would become a technological showcase for Alfa Romeo in the future and features to be incorporated into the model would include Multiair and double shift transmissions.

The MiTo team emphasised just how different the new sports coupé is to the Fiat Grande Punto, on whose architecture it is based, with more rigidity, better handling, lower centre of gravity, "we found the performance we wanted," said De Meo. Dario Sacco, Fiat Gasoline Engines Technical Director, pointed out the work that had been done by Alfa Romeo's engineers' on the 1.4 turbo engine to take it away from the T-Jet base, including new materials, reduced weight, new steel for the turbo, and higher torque curve.

De Meo also revealed that a GTA model would join the MiTo range next year, boasting an impressive 230 bhp. It will boast the "best dynamic performance ever from a 4 metre long car," he predicted, and revealed that it would use a new 1750cc turbocharged, direct injection, twin variable valve timing, engine.

Marketing Director Sergio Cravero took to the floor and said that the overriding idea had been to keep the range simple with two specification levels: Progression and Distinctive. Slotting in on top of these would be two additional packs, 'Sports' and 'Premium', as well as a raft of options including 5 interiors, 10 exterior body colours, 8 alloy wheels plus extras such as Bi-Zenon headlights and sumptuous Frau leather.

In Italy the MiTo will be priced from 17,950 to 20,350 euros for the 155 bhp petrol version, and 18,950 to 21,350 euros for the 120 bhp diesel. A 'MiTo Junior' will also be launched, costing just 15,350 euros. "Deliberately low in horsepower for young drivers buying their first car," said De Meo. It will include Blue&Me Nav and could attract 50 percent lower insurance (up to 800 euro savings) as well as being offered with a low repayment instalment programme and an Alfa Romeo insurance scheme.

All Italian dealerships will have at least one MiTo in their showrooms by the end of this month, with all the major European markets getting their hands on the new model by the end of July, except for the UK where the MiTo launch will take place in October with big events planned.

The Alfa Romeo CEO wrapped up the well received presentation by touching on safety issues, stating that MiTo has been designed to be "the safest car in its class". He added: "Safety often sets the pace for product development," and that crash tests would come in November.

16000eu za turbo?
15300 je bazni 78ks
a turbo je 19300 sa malo opreme se popnes bez problema na 21/22000eu i to cijene u italiji
prvi dojmovi ovog 155ks su fantastični,svi kazu da auto ideeee ali su razočarani cijenom
tak da se pitam koliko če biti 230ks,nadam se manje od 30000eu

nice sviđa mi se ovaj sjajni rub na otvoru branika ali retrovizori  :ne: čak i ove naljepnice na haubi nisu loše, djeluje mi nekak spuštenije auto

MiTo Training Days, 18. – 19.06.08

Enough talk, now it was time to go out on the track! When we left the building a whole armada of MiTos in red, black and white was shining for contest. What a picture! It may sound a bit bland, but you really have to see this car in the metal! The front looks sharp and ready to go. Nothing of the feared fish eyes in sight! It may have this effect on some pictures but in reality the headlights appear a lot smaller. Good! The silhouette leads a curvy way to the back where the classy round lights form my personal highlight. So beautiful! The other cars (207, Clio, Corsa...) looked quite pale against it...

The MiTos were all specced as Distinctive and some had sport or leather seats. I specially loved these ones but all the different interiors looked very proud: Cockpit, steering wheel, door trims – everything quite sporty but classy at the same time. The carbon look dashboard had a very nice expression in bordeaux red, and normally that's not included in my fave colors.

After a speedy introduction lap as co-pilot of professional drivers we were allowed to enter the drivers seat. I instantly felt at home: Everything felt solid and reacted right the way I expected it from a sporty car. Steering, gear lever and pedals in good reach and with nice response. I have to admit, in the rush of excitement I didn't notice the position of the DNA switch, but the car went fast forward without a turbo lag, quite similar to big non-turbo engines. It went through the curves without swinging nor shaking. Well done! We went on to an all-weather test on a wet, slippery track and again there was nothing to complain about. The comfort for the driver was great and also the back seat felt good with 2 persons. With my 1.83 m I had absolutely no problems with head room.

Some additional observations:
Headlights look a lot smaller in reality than on photos
Wheels match the arches quite well, even the 16 inchers are okay
A decent lowering wouldn't hurt, while it sits already clearly lower than the 147
The 18 inch wheels are partly polished, partly titanium painted
Door trims have a satinized look with small pimples on it
Intruments say hello with a full rise to 260/8000, plus display animation
Strange leather covering between steering wheel and intruments, not visible from seating position
USB port like in the 500, could be a bit fragile
Back seat backside is covered in cloth when dividable, in standard painted black
Good roominess in the whole car, at the back way more room (also for legs) than in the MINI
Bose subwoofer mounted in the spare wheel centre
Backs of the seats covered with cloth/leather, bag behind the passenger seat
New Alfatex (Distinctive) looks and feels quite different to the old one, more like microfibre than suede
Driving behaviour like MINI, didn't feel any turbo gap

Head of Alfa styling Christopher Reitz said:

Very happy about the GTA design, already finished
Sunroof available next year, have to redesign the roof structure
Can't tell date for the new V6 engines, but they look very good again
Much to do in the Centro Stile, 6 new models until 2010
New models with classic Alfa character: sexy, strong, agile
