Real life fire truck toy for big boys:
one of the 1673 GTA SportWagons built by Alfa Romeo and subsequently converted by the “Lions” of @ceasquadracorse in a rapid intervention vehicle has come up for sale, offered by @autoluce.modena via @collectingcars.-
Arguably one of the coolest of the noughties GTAs (because big powered wagons are always cool and the 156 SW GTA is the rarest of them all) this example has the danger of high speed racing sprinkled all over the  ̶e̶m̶e̶r̶g̶e̶n̶c̶y̶ ̶r̶e̶d̶ ̶ Rosso Alfa body, with 47.044 km in service at the Imola racetrack and also Monza, where it got to promptly respond to Michael Schumacher’s crash in free practice (see story).
And if on that particular occasion the built-in high capacity fire extinguisher replacing the rear seats didn’t get to be used, nothing is going to stop you from doing just that (mind you, not before setting off the orange warning lights on the roof of course) but only if you’re placing the winning bid at @collectingcars’ auction closing in 3 days. Current offer is at 7500 euros, so that childhood dream of becoming a fireman might not be that costly after all…

Imas auto kojeg po njegovim riječima ima 50-100 komada ukupno proizvedenih, a zivih jos i manje, a onda mu ides narušavati originalnost. Ok amortizeri i auspuh, ali vizuelno on mora biti apsolutno originalan. Felge su jos najmanji problem za uraditi

Slazem se, felge su najmanji problem, ali sicevi su po meni ispali stvarno jako lose, cak i ruzno…

Ali svatko neka radi sa svojim sta je njemu po volji…

Ja sam Giugiaro 2.5v6 Nuvolu prefarbao u crno, isto ih ima na prste nabrojati…

It was a 3rd series model, featuring Giorgetto Giugiaro's facelift. But to my astonishment, instead of the traditional 2.0
JTS or 1.9 Miet engine, this car is powered the powerful 3.2 V6 Busso engine usually found in the GTA!
Yes, you read that correctly: essentially, a 156 GTA disguised with the aesthetics of the 3rd series. I spoke with one of the two policemen in charge of the car, who shared the story of this exceptional vehicle with us.
Apparently, only two units of this Alfa Romeo 156 3rd series, equipped with the 250 hp 3.2 V6 GTA engine, were ever made. They were delivered to the State Police for the
Quirinale Escort Service, which serves the official residence of the President of the Italian Republic. These unique cars were specifically set up for escorting the President of the
Italian Republic, remaining in service from 2003 to 2010.
They escorted President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, the 10th president of the Italian Republic, who served from 1999 to
2006. In 2010, they were replaced by newer 159s and remained unused until 2022, when one of the two was recovered and taken to the Polizia di Stato's Autocentro in Milan. Thanks to the passion and dedication of the agents at this center, this unique 156 was restored to full functionality, now enjoying a well deserved, less stressful second life, by attending historical events and meetings...
